In a nutshell: This study evaluated four separate falls risk assessment tools in a clinical setting involving over 1500 patients. Although use of the tools was found to be reasonably consistent among nursing staff, problems arose regarding their accuracy. The importance of testing instruments is highlighted along with the need for robust staff education and training.
